The Awakening is a work of J. Seward Johnson Jr.'s
showing a giant-sized head, knee, foot, hand and arm rising out of the ground.
It is located at East Potomac Park, between the fishermans wharf and National Airport.
I photographed this staute 4 times before I got the light the way it would most
impressively show the size and massive nature of this statue. Amazingly enough at
5:45 in the morning, with a long exposure, you can see the detail and size that makes this
a most impressive Washington Memorial!
